Summer!

Okay so this summer had just got insanely busy…! Currently on Placement at Lighthouse Visual Communications in West Tisted, playing around with flash presentations both stand alone and CMS. So that’s the day time job, I’m also fitting in some freelance stuff for 4T2 in my evenings…all good experience, but it means I have very little time to “chill”!!

Amongst Placement fun times I’ve got a lot of sailing planned…2 weeks for Cowes Week working for Artemis the main sponsor of the event, then at the end of August I’m setting off to race around Britain and Ireland which is a good 2 weeks non stop sailing. So all very exciting and busy…!

Anywho…back to work!!!!

Update!!

Uni is finished…my final essay has gone in!! WOOP! Now to enjoy the summer…!

Summer so far has been very hectic…With 2 weeks work at 4T2 and a couple days here and there. A week with Rockley down at Poole Park…which proved to be very tiring – espec. as it seems the new technique for teaching is from IN the water…running around in the mud trying to chase after 15 boats all learning to sail…wanting to capsize and cause as much mayhem as possible!!! Needless to say I had a great week and met a bunch of great people…!

This last weekend I was sailing again – this time consisting of a race to Cherbourg, a qualifier for the Round Britain and Ireland Race I will participating in at the end of August!!! Of which we are now officially qualified for!! YAYA!!!

This week is all about planning my summer…I should be hearing from 4T2 today with more dates that they’d like me to work…tomorrow I’ve got my interview for another placement opportunity. Once all that’s confirmed I need to contact Rockley as they’d like me to work the season with them!!!

It’s going to be a busy but good summer!!!

Placement search!!

So I’ve worked a week at 4T2 now, and they’ve asked me back next week to carry on with what I’ve been doing. Woop!

In other news: I’ve got a interview with another company based near Alresford on the 15th June and have received positive feedback from a number of other companies who might have some freelance stuff I could help them with!!

In other news: Rockley Watersports have contacted me wanting me to help teach down at Poole Park during a sailing festival, On Board, starting 7th June. Which should be fun…100 kids a day…can’t imagine anything better!!!!!

Placement!!!

So looks like my Pen Test was partly successful : Mike received around 20/25 envelopes on his desk, unfortunately quite a number of them had holes in them where a pen once lived!!

Needless to say Mike was impressed and I’m going in next week to help out with some XML translations and game testing! From then if they like me the opportunity for more work is possible!!! *fingers crossed*

Not wanting to rely entirely on this company I’m starting to contact other companies as to opportunities they may be able to provide!!

PEN TEST!

So I contacted a local company in Bournemouth who make online games for kids and I’ve been given a “pen test!”

“Let’s give you a little test then.  Rules are simple – none

All you need to do is explain why you have done what you have done and how long it took. You can spend as much or as little time on it as you want, just focus on explaining why you did it if that makes sense

So your subject matter is……a pen e.g. a biro etc.

All you have to do is something about a pen.  could be anything - make a pen, blow up a pen, make a pen game (demo, or just a plan for one), make a pen website, get me a meeting with a pen company, stab me with a pen (not my favourite option)”

So that was last week after a weekend in Devon and a bit of time to have a think I have an idea…I will be contacting various people from around the world and getting them to send Mike a Pen to his office, with the hope of him getting around 30 pens on his desk when he returns from holiday in a week and a half!!!

WOW what a manic end!! Spent the majority of my life in the labs the last month and a half…I’m now very much looking forward to getting some sleep and surprisingly eating some vegetables…kettle food in the labs hasn’t really cut it!!!!

As a group we had to present our idea for our game today…after lots of preparation it seemed to go really well. Even though IM RUBBISH AT PRESENTING!!!!!

Everyone seemed to really like our idea which is a great bonus Now time to get on with some making!
